The Live Sound Production course is a highly practical and intensive short course that provides an introduction to the fundamentals of live sound engineering and production. Course Outline
Practical Component
A live sound engineer is dedicated to producing the ultimate artistic balance in sound and delivering it to the audience with their technical aptitude – a specialist talent that has become increasingly in-demand within the rapidly expanding entertainment industry. The course will provide you with the essential skills and knowledge of live sound including sound system set up and tuning, microphone placement, monitoring systems, signal processing and effects, basic mixing techniques, signal flow and troubleshooting techniques, as well as workplace safety and equipment maintenance. You will be practicing and developing your skills using modern PA equipment, including digital mixing consoles, signal processors, effects units, amplifiers, speakers and in-ear monitoring systems.
Theoretical Component
This course also provides a theoretical foundation to the practical skills you develop. You will learn about the fundamental principles of sound as well as developing an understanding of the equipment that you use in the practical sessions. In addition, you will learn about the live music industry itself and the opportunities it affords, as well as how to work safely as part of a team. With this combination of theory and practical instruction, this course gives you the grounding to get your start in the live sound industry.
